Elm Tree Relocation
A camperdown elm (tree #1189) has been relocated to make way for road and infrastructure improvement works occurring this summer to support the two new health facilities under construction in Riverview's North Health Precinct.
Tree #1189 is approximately 35 years in age and weighs approximately 15,000 lbs. The complicated move occurred over this past weekend and included movement from its original location adjacent to Valleyview Lodge downslope to Cottage 2. Tree #1189 will remain within the Riverview property. This relocation has been directed by Riverview’s arborist, Dr. Julian Dunster.
Riverview is home to the largest collection of camperdown elms in the province, BC Housing is committed to protecting the site's important tree collection.
